Delete your account
Last updated: May 2026
You can delete your Upfayre account, and the personal data attached to it, at any time. There are two ways to do it.
1. Delete it yourself, from the app
- Sign in at www.upfayre.co.uk (or in the iOS or Android app).
- Open the account menu (top-right) and choose Settings.
- Scroll to the bottom of the settings page and click Delete my account.
- Confirm the action when prompted.
The deletion is irreversible. Your account is removed immediately and your personal data is scrubbed from our systems within 30 days, except where we're legally required to retain it (see "What we keep" below).
2. Request deletion by email
If you can't sign in, you can request deletion via email verification. We'll send a confirmation link to the address registered on the account — clicking it completes the deletion. Same security guarantee as the in-app self-serve route.
If you've lost access to the registered email address, email us at [email protected] and we'll verify your identity another way — typically by asking you to confirm details only the account holder would know.
Once verification is complete, the deletion is processed within 30 days.
What gets deleted
When your account is deleted, we permanently remove:
- Your full name, email address, and phone number
- Your profile and avatar
- Your school and event memberships
- Your task assignments and rota slot bookings
- Your notification preferences and read/unread state
- Your push-notification device tokens (so we can no longer send pushes to your phone)
- Any direct mentions of you in event chats
What we keep, and why
A small amount of content remains in place after deletion, either anonymised or attributed to "Former member", so that the shared work of the committee isn't broken for everyone else. This includes:
- Chat messages you posted — kept in place so the conversation remains coherent for other members, but the author label changes to "Former member".
- Tasks you created — kept on the event so committees don't lose context on past work. Re-assigned to the event admin if you were the assignee.
- Fundraising totals — these are about the school's events, not about you personally; they don't contain identifying data and stay on the school record.
- Order records required for tax / VAT / consumer-protection compliance — kept for the minimum legal retention period (currently 6 years in the UK).
Questions
If you're unsure whether deletion is the right step, or you want to know exactly what we hold about you before deciding, you can ask for a copy of your data first by emailing [email protected] (subject "Data access request"). We'll provide it within 30 days under UK GDPR.
See our Privacy Policy for the full picture of what we collect and why.
